That’s why we came up with this super simple JFET-based implementation – and then upgraded it with a couple of extra features like an internal clock generator or a dedicated slew output. Of course, we’ll need an interesting input to sample – which is why you’ll often find sample & hold modules with an integrated noise generator. So we’ll do the same! On top of that, the architecture is as approachable as possible by avoiding the tricky diff-pair setup classic ladder filters rely on.

Erica Synths and Moritz Klein – developed a series of educational DIY kits under the brand name mki x es.EDU with one specific goal in mind: to teach people with little-to-no prior experience how to design analog synthesizer circuits from scratch. What you’ll find in the box is not simply meant to be soldered together and then disappear in your rack. Instead, we want to take you through the circuit design process step by step, explaining every choice we’ve made and how it impacts the finished module.

In total, developed 9 kits to build a fully-featured modular monosynth: a sequencer, a VCO, a wavefolder, a noise/S&H module, a mixer, a VCF, an Envelope generator, a dual VCA, and an output stereo mixer with a headphone amplifier. Additionally, an affordable eurorack case with a DIY PSU will also be available. While these kits are easy to build, we did not compromise on design and functionality. We will launch one kit every 4-6 weeks. For each kit, there is an extensive user manual (40+ pages; can be downloaded separately) that will dive deep into not only the electronics behind each circuit but also the fundamental principles of sound synthesis. I must point out here, that the WTOSC3 may route by side the filter and goes to an additional VCA (2) that controlled by an additional envelope (ENV2). This give the sound a great movement in the sound because the WT position may control by independent additional envelope (ENV4). The wavetable with the rich higher harmonics and the shape fundamental of the OSC1/2 + FILTER path. Never detune your VCO by turning that tune knob by accident again!

Jeweler Cast

The Jeweler Cast combines a triple source crossfader, a diode ring modulator, a wavefolder and a distortion, all in 6HP. The module has a 100% analog signal path while a digital brain reconfigures the different analog blocks to create different topologies : a liquid filter combined to a VCA, HPF/LPF MS20 combo, a dual LPG, a dual peak filter, stereo processing... You got it : this is a very polyvalent module which covers a lot of subtractive analog territories. Shakmat also added some smart features such as an opto CV response emulation, serial or parallel routings, a link function and CV recall of the channel's types.

Triple Steeple

The Triple Steeple is a 3 channel 8HP envelope generator. Close your eyes and think about it. Ok, enough you’re drifting, probably thinking about pineapples.

Anyway, for a lot of people, the word synthesizer envokes visions of big filter cutoff knobs, envelope generators, and importantly, big fat-sounding voltage-controlled oscillators. These are the hallmarks of East Coast style synthesis.

East Beast is a fresh take on these old-school concepts with a few beastly twists thrown in here and there.

Oh and by the way, we almost forgot to mention, if you are into the whole eurorack thing, you can pop East Beast out of its included enclosure and it transforms right into a 40HP eurorack module. We should’ve called it Optimus Beast!

East Beast’s oscillator, designed in partnership with the too serious for words people from Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers, is a part of their 5th generation of analog oscillators stemming from a super-serious 10 years of continued research into analog oscillator development.

Its circuitry is not a clone or based on any outside designs. It is made with 100% modern components. This keeps it very stable, and giving it a super rich, and unique sound. Definitely not junk.

PGH Filter? What in the flying banana pancake monster is that?

Our uncomfortably serious friends (if you can call them that) at Pittsbugh Modular Synthesizers are just as serious about filters as they are about oscillators. Frankly, it’s a bit obnoxious (like we should talk). Anyway, this is a really really really good filter…. More on that to follow.

Most of the filters you are used to hearing are transistor ladder filters, or copies of transistor ladder filters. This is not one of those. The whole goal in making this filter was to create a creamy smooth filter with no dead spots, a very common phenomenon in all filters, but check it out. No dead spots. From nasally to biting and elsewhere, it’s all one large sweet spot.

See spot sweep? Good spot, sweet spot! Ok, this is just getting weird…. moving on….

East Beast’s filter is a multi-mode filter, meaning it can be used as a low pass filter, high pass filter, bandpass filter, or a combination of the three for an even wider sonic palate.

Tons of filtery fun ffs.

to further sculpt the sounds we’ve included an envelope generator & LFO. The custom envelope circuit creates a snappy, percussive attack for expressive performance. The dual range LFO opens up a wide range of LFO and audio rate modulation possibilities.

Get wobbly & weird, or not. No judgment from us here, we promise.

Semi-modular means that the East Beast will work without any patch cables or anything. But what fun is that? Who doesn’t want to have their own personal spaghetti mess of cables sticking out of their synthesizer to get wacky with? At the very least it makes you look super sophisticated to anyone observing. Anyway, East Beast has basically 9 different patchable modules (Oscillator, filter, envelope, VCA, LFO, multi-mod tool, sequencer, MIDI to CV converter, and button keyboard) with a whopping 18 Eurorack compatible patch points to plug into itself and your other gear. All for your patching pleasure.

MIDI too!

We’ve said it before, we love MIDI… It makes us feel warm and snuggly on the coldest of days. We lay in bed at night thinking about connecting everything to a giant MIDI interface that responds to brainwaves. Yeah, we know it’s messed up. But what’s not messed up is East Beast’s MIDI. It has MIDI in and a fancy MIDI thru so you can chain multiple MIDI monstrosities together.

Maybe you don’t share our weird MIDI fetish, but at the least, you can enjoy plugging a MIDI controller into East Beast and rocking out and/or sequencing like mad. Again, no judgment.

Performance non-junk-stuff

But wait, there’s more! East Beast includes quite a few additional performance features. Why not get extra beast-like by getting serious like our friends at Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers (they buy us lunch each time we include their full name on our website) and dive in with its built-in tap tempo clock, arpeggiator, and sequencer. There’s a lot of opportunities to inject in some randomness too. Pizza! Was that random? We think not.

Some Really Boring Facts About

East Beast

East coast style subtractive monophonic synthesizer

Controllable via MIDI, CV, and integrated button keyboard

Fully patchable - use East Beast’s components as separate modules with external devices or reroute its internal patching. There are two 1V/octave outputs with GATE/NOTE/VELOCITY.

Notes can also be sent via MIDI. Both note tracks are independent of each other and can be used in different octave spreads.

In addition to the analog connection, the module has full MIDI functionality. It can be synchronized via analogue clock or via MIDI.

The sequencer is designed as a looper. It plays a pattern of up to four bars in a loop. The notes can be played (or deleted) quantized with two buttons.

One button is used for note repeats, another for setting individual events. The pitch is determined by either the potentiometer or the built-in distance sensor.

The sensor works in a range of about 1 to 40 cm and is independent of extraneous light. Even bright sunlight does not affect it.

A 1-octave mini-keyboard allows transposing on the fly and setting a scale.

Since the module has two CV inputs, it can also be used as a two-channel quantizer or arpeggiator.

All settings of the current pattern are simply saved together in a patch. There are 5 banks with 7 seats each (per mini-keyboard) available.

This allows up to 35 patterns to be managed. The patches can also be selected via CV or MIDI program change and can be saved and reloaded on the fly.

The pattern can be manipulated during and after the import with eg: gate length, velocity, random, last step, hold, mute, glide, scale and transposition.

Both tracks can have different settings. With TRACK-Link, however, parameters can also be applied to both tracks at the same time.

This is helpful, for example, with transpositions or duophonic playing.

Flame make the two sequencer modules primarily for live use. In the live rack, space is usually scarce and therefore the modules,

despite the large range of functions, be kept as small as possible. But it was just as important to us to achieve clear operation.

The current designs are a result of these compromises. The equipment with distance sensors is certainly not an unimportant aspect for the stage performance, but it is also a lot of fun in the studio and rehearsal room.

They try to achieve a moderate retail price for both sequencers.

Unfortunately, the component prices are currently rising a lot and can therefore not yet provide any specific information.

Despite the currently difficult situation in the procurement of some components, we hope that the modules will be available from autumn 2022.

More detailed descriptions of the two modules are in progress and will probably be available for download on website in the second quarter of 2022.

More info here : http://www.flame-instruments.de
Analogowa Duszahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07495759861376508889noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-317789958749104260.post-27406375860274441312022-05-10T02:52:00.003-07:002022-05-10T02:52:22.134-07:00Radikal Technologies - RT1936 Preamp, Overdrive, EQ & Envelope Follower

Guitarists usually have a very keen sense for pleasantly saturating guitar preamps. Equally at home manipulating audio or control voltages, Laka will quickly make itself at home in the thick of each and every patch, with its uses limited mostly by imagination.

Each of Laka’s four channels offers a separate high-headroom bi-polar CV processor (also known as an attenuverter) with its own offset, perfect for “dialing in” a signal for optimal use with other modules. Each channel offers a high degree of control including a “Zero” switch and bi-color LED indicator. The “solo” output of each channel is available at all times via its own output jack, but the channels are also available in various mixtures via the three Submix outputs (A+B, B+C, C+D) and main Mix output (A+B+C+D).

The four Channel outputs are also combined in a more novel way via the Sequential section. The right side of the module is dedicated to selecting one of the four Channel outputs and routing it to the Sequential output. This section is controlled by a high-quality manual pushbutton, a Clock input capable of operating at audio rates, a Reset logic input, and a switch controlling the number of steps. This section allows a user to create complex CV waveforms from the four Channels, flip through audio, “audition” new sounds or signals, and numerous other functions.

Voltage processing just got a lot more fun: Laka is here!

Four high-headroom bi-polar CV processors with voltage offset, “Zeroing” switch, and bi-color LED indication

45mm faders for each bi-polar level control

Submix and Main outputs for adjacent channels with one Offset voltage active on each output

Sequential section for selecting one of four Channel outputs via Sequential output

Clock, Manual Advance, Reset, and Steps controls for Sequencer section

LED indicators for Sequential step selection

Maximum Current Draw: 65mA @ +12V, 65mA @ -12V

Input Impedance (Channels A-D, Calibrated): 97k approx.

Input Impedance (Clock): 100k

Input Impedance (Reset): 47k

Output Impedance (All Outputs): 1k

Maximum/Minimum Output Voltage (Channels A-D, All Outputs): +/-11.5V on standard Eurorack PSU

Clock, Reset Threshold: 5V (negative voltage protected)

https://www.setonixsynth.com/laka

Analogowa Duszahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07495759861376508889noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-317789958749104260.post-68427309794407586242022-05-10T02:39:00.005-07:002022-05-10T02:42:54.521-07:00Erica Synths announces SYNTRX II

Peter Zinovieff himself approved our re-imagination of his legendary Synthi AKS in the form of the SYNTRX which was produced in a limited run of 1056 units. Based on lessons learned from the SYNTRX, we decided to create an instrument which would integrate even deeper into contemporary electronic and experimental music setups and cover sonic territory from daunting drones to powerful basslines and glitched noisescapes. The SYNTRX II is the culmination of our analogue sound design circuits – two perfectly stable main oscillators with waveshapers, a versatile multimode filter, supercharged external instrument inputs with an envelope follower, a unique, great sounding ringmodulator, a recordable joystick and built in piano roll sequencer, all arranged around our signature matrix mixer and topped off with powerful FX on our new DSP platform. Operating modes, selected by MIDI channel number, include basic monophonic notes with pitch and velocity CV output; two-note polyphony for controlling a two-voice patch (separate voices or with automatic note assignment between them); three arpeggiator modes; two modes of quantizing input CV to MIDI-selected notes; and drum trigger and gate output.

Plug in an ordinary PC typing keyboard (QWERTY style) and it functions like a MIDI keyboard, allowing synthesizer control and access to all the Gracious Host's features without a dedicated music keyboard. An ordinary USB mouse can also generate control voltages, opening a range of interesting new performance possibilities.

North Coast's first digital module continues the tradition of technical openness with complete source code for the firmware and build system, and detailed technical documentation totalling over 180 pages. Interested users or third parties can modify the Gracious Host firmware to support unique devices and operating modes; and it is available for use in other projects as free software under GPL3.

Price €240

more info here ; https://northcoastsynthesis.com/products/msk-014-gracious-host.html
Analogowa Duszahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07495759861376508889noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-317789958749104260.post-4015474142894896402022-02-18T00:20:00.004-08:002022-02-18T00:20:33.680-08:00Flame Instruments announce TAKT - Rhythm Sequencer

"TAKT" is a compact 30HP Eurorack sequencer module for playing or programming trigger/gate/velocity rhythm sequences.

The sequencer has 8 tracks with trigger/gate outputs, 8 velocity/modulation CV outputs and full MIDI functionality.

Both outputs of the track can also be recorded independently of each other.

Live sequencing in looper mode is possible in two ways: SHOTS for playing "note repeats" or quantized triggering via keys or sensors.

In the step sequencer mode, notes are programmed in the classic way or edited later.

Four tracks can be triggered simultaneously with four external distance sensors. These sensors are just 2HP slim modules that can be rack mounted at desired locations.

These are connected directly to TAKT (sockets on the underside) with narrow and sufficiently long ribbon cables. TAKT also supplies the sensors with the necessary operating voltage.

The 4 sensors and the connection cables are included in the scope of delivery. The first two stages are arranged in parallel with their outputs feeding the third, central crossfader. Creative blending of up to four input signals is possible with individual voltage control of each crossfading stage. Individual attenuators for each input are provided to set equal levels (or not…) going into the first set of crossfades. In addition to the main output, direct outputs from the initial crossfade stages are available for more elaborate sound design, or to use those stages together in parallel (stereo patches, for example).

The crossfade control voltages are also sent to separate auxiliary outputs, which will output a voltage corresponding to the manual control position in the absence of an external control signal, simplifying complex chaining of controls without an additional external multiple, or conveniently passing control voltages to another destination elsewhere in the patch.

Price : $250

More info here : https://www.sonocurrent.com/m-c3a
Analogowa Duszahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07495759861376508889noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-317789958749104260.post-72317510807968156702022-01-21T02:05:00.004-08:002022-01-21T02:05:32.219-08:00TipTop Audio Buchla Eurorack 200 series modules are available now in pre-orders

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; A dip switch allows for selecting the number of filter stages involved in the resonance path, while the resonance attenuverter brings in never-heard-before feedback artefacts, and most importantly – the SPREAD mode detunes the all-pass filters for even more distinct behaviour. A built-in voltage controlled LFO with selectable waveforms expands the modulation possibilities of the phaser and can be used as an independent modulation source for your modular system as well.

The Black K-Phaser is our tribute to the German electronic music pioneers that largely shaped the sound of electronic music worldwide.

Features:

8 all-pass filters with photo-resistor control

Classic and Spread (filter detune) mode

Resonance attenuverter

Selectable resonance path

Built in VC LFO with a dedicated output

Wet output

Price ; € 190.00

More info here : https://www.ericasynths.lv
Analogowa Duszahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07495759861376508889noreply@blogger.com
